Information we collect
- Account information, including your email address, account identifier, and account creation date.
- Profile information, including your name, age, approximate or precise location, work and education details, interests, relationship preferences, personality answers, prompts, and photos.
- Optional identity-verification information, including your legal name, date of birth, a live selfie, and images of an identity document. Verification documents are not displayed on your profile.
- Activity and communications, including likes, matches, messages, photo-unlock choices, blocks, reports, and support tickets. A support ticket may include your name, email address, category, subject, and the details you submit.
- Limited product analytics that help us understand and improve HuSyn, including app opens, session length, screens viewed, onboarding completion, feature use, platform, app version and build, OS version, device type, locale, and time zone. When aggregate product insights are enabled, summaries may also use age ranges, gender identity, general profile location, and selected interests. Analytics events are linked to your HuSyn account while retained.
- Technical and safety information, including session data, moderation results, request logs, error details, and device or network information needed to operate and secure the service.
How we use information
We use information to create and display profiles, personalize compatibility results, enable matching and messaging, provide support, prevent abuse, moderate content, secure accounts, diagnose problems, and comply with law.
- Your precise location, when you allow it, is used to estimate distance and personalize nearby results.
- Profile photos are checked by an automated content-moderation provider before publication.
- Reports and relevant account activity may be reviewed to investigate safety concerns.
- If you request identity and age verification, authorized moderators may review your submitted selfie and identity document. A verification provider may be added later only after this policy and the in-app notice are updated.
Analytics and improving HuSyn
HuSyn uses first-party product analytics to understand what is working, improve reliability, and make the app experience more useful. This includes information such as app sessions, screens viewed, onboarding progress, feature use, likes, matches, messages sent, app version, OS version, and device type. Events may include small counts or yes/no details, such as how many discovery cards were returned or whether a message was a reply.
Product analytics and aggregate product insights are enabled by default. You can turn either choice off during onboarding or at any time under Analytics & Privacy in Settings. Turning off product analytics stops future analytics collection. Turning off aggregate product insights immediately excludes your profile from those summaries. Neither choice affects core HuSyn features.
When aggregate product insights are enabled, HuSyn combines information such as age ranges, gender identity, general profile location, and selected interests to understand whether the app works well for different parts of the HuSyn community and where the product can improve. These combined statistics are not presented as individual member profiles. Political information is never included.
Product analytics do not include message text, prompt answers, photos, exact coordinates, names, email addresses, advertising identifiers, or the identity of another member involved in an action. HuSyn uses analytics only to improve and operate the app. HuSyn does not sell personal information, share analytics for advertising, or track people across other companies' apps or websites.
Image moderation
HuSyn may use a third-party provider to check profile photos that may violate our safety rules before they are posted. Our current provider is OpenAI's Moderations API. HuSyn sends the image without your name, email address, profile identifier, location, or other personal account information. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models by default, and its current data-controls documentation lists no application-state or abuse-monitoring retention for the Moderations endpoint. HuSyn does not retain the moderation API response after making the allow-or-reject decision. Approved photos are stored by HuSyn and linked to your profile until you remove the photo or delete your account. Photos rejected during screening are not posted or stored by HuSyn. Photo uploads are optional, although not uploading photos may affect your experience.

Identity and age verification
HuSyn's current optional verification flow asks you to capture a live selfie and the front and back of a government-issued identity document. Authorized moderators compare the captures and confirm whether the person is at least 18. The captures are private and are not displayed on your profile. They are linked only to your verification record so HuSyn can review the submission and, when a safety concern arises during the retention period, re-review it.
HuSyn may retain the verification captures for up to 90 days after submission. A daily deletion process removes the selfie and document images at the end of that period while retaining the verification status, review timestamps, and limited audit information. If HuSyn reasonably suspects that an account is operated by someone under 18, HuSyn may request verification or re-verification. An account confirmed to be operated by someone under 18 may be closed; the person may contact support to re-verify after turning 18.
HuSyn does not currently collect an Apple-declared age range. A future version may offer this privacy-preserving option after the feature is connected and reviewed.
Retention and deletion
We retain information while your account is active and as needed to operate, secure, and comply with legal obligations. Raw product-analytics events are automatically deleted after 90 days. Turning off Share product analytics stops future collection but does not retroactively delete events already collected; those events remain only until the 90-day limit. Turning off aggregate product insights immediately excludes your profile from those summaries. You may request deletion of linked analytics without closing your account through HuSyn support. Identity-verification captures are automatically deleted after no more than 90 days; the over-18 result and limited review record may remain while the account is active. Support tickets are retained as needed to resolve the request, document our response, prevent abuse, and comply with law. You can permanently delete your account in Settings. Deletion removes your account, profile, photos, settings, likes, matches, messages, sessions, reports, blocks, verification submission, and product-analytics events from active systems, subject to records that must be retained for fraud prevention, safety, dispute resolution, or law.
Your choices
- You can edit your profile and preferences, control discoverability, remove photos, block users, report content or conduct, and delete your account in the app.
- You can deny location, camera, or photo-library permissions in iOS Settings, though related features may not work. Identity verification remains optional.
- You can separately turn off Share product analytics and Include me in aggregate product insights under Analytics & Privacy in HuSyn Settings. This does not affect core app features.
- You can choose not to upload photos and can reset your image-moderation choice in Account settings. Resetting applies to future uploads and does not remove existing photos.
- For privacy questions or requests, use the account and support tools available in the app.
Age, security, and international processing
You must be at least 18 years old to use HuSyn. We use access controls, encryption in transit, private object storage, and time-limited media links, but no service can guarantee absolute security. Our providers may process information in countries other than yours, subject to their legal and contractual safeguards.
Changes
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required.
